What is Micro-Folie ?

A micro-folie is a place of culture, exchange, sharing of knowledge, designed to welcome all audiences. It is notably composed of a digital museum and an immersive virtual reality space (VR headsets).

Bringing together hundreds of masterpieces from several dozen national and international institutions to discover in digital form, this virtual art gallery combining visual arts, live performance, design, architecture, etc., is a unique and fun cultural offering.

To visit alone, with family, or with friends, the Digital Museum will give you access to a multitude of treasures.

The Digital Museum can also be visited in groups : 24 slots have been reserved to accommodate students from Crest schools.

Among the poets of the 20th century, André du Bouchet (1924-2001) is an inventor, a creator of forms like Stéphane Mallarmé was in the previous century. On the page, between his words, space plays an essential role. The white, the air make the poems breathe and it sometimes takes long strides to pass from one fragment to another.

André du Bouchet, had met Pierre Tal Coat in 1948, when the painter lived in Château Noir, in the hills of Aix-en-Provence. Until the disappearance of his friend, but also until his own disappearance (until his very last days in April 2001, at the hospital in Crest), he never stopped questioning himself (and write) on the unique adventure of « this great painter ».

Remember that André du Bouchet affixed his (typed) pages to the walls of the room where he worked, in Paris or in Truinas: he had, so to speak, a studio (or rather two). And, to tell the truth, a vast construction site. « I’m a painter! » he said, smiling to his loved ones…

In his huge studio in Dormont (not far from Giverny), Pierre Tal Coat (1905-1985) sought to find an organic harmony between painting and nature, between the material of his paint and the surrounding world: hundreds of paintings lived there, waiting… just like hundreds of pages of André du Bouchet waiting for the rapidity of a glance, the flash of a seizure until the « precipitate » of the poem.

The exhibition, through paintings, drawings, books…, explores the links between the poet and the painter.

Do you know the design ?

Between form, function, material, innovation, utility, originality and aethetics, design is a balancing act.

Versatile creator, the designer is sometimes considered as an author, even an artist, sometimes as a creator who puts his expertise at the service of usefulness and efficiency. The English word « design » comes from the old French « desseing » which means both « drawing » (the form, aesthetics : a formal object), and « aim » (the use, the objective : an object thought, mental, intellectual).

Liked to the rise of industrial production in the 20th century, design remains little known and little understood by the general public despite its role in everyday life. It is readily associated with choices of  « stylized » shapes, « contemporary » lines. We rarely know the authors.

In line with its previous general art history exhibitions (Contemporary Aubusson Tapestries ; The Triumph of Color, a history of color photography), the Centre d’art de Crest offers a journey into the story of a discipline, design, through fifty cult objects. Some are famous – they were designed by masters and sometimes their use took hold in the homes of the 20th century Western homo sapiens. Others are less known because they were designed by anonymous people or because their destiny is more modest.

The exhibition thus offers a discovery of design in the form of an initiatory exploration, a subjective reading that gives prominence to sensitivity, authors and stories. 50 ways to enter a history of design through a content-rich journey.

With creations by Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, Marcel Breuer, Dieter Rams, Philippe Starck, Matali Crasset, Raymond Loewy, Roger Tallon, Ettore Sottsass etc., a pressure cooker, chairs and tables, a pen, a watch, computers, televisions, a juicer,  lamps…
